Reducing hand-arm vibration has become a pressing problem for many employers since the introduction in the UK of the Physical Agents (Vibration) Directive, which came into force in July 2005. 3M is helping employers to meet the new regulations – which have reduced acceptable levels of hand-arm vibration by as much as 37 percent – by promoting a range of specially designed abrasive systems.

“Under the new law, employers must take responsibility for minimising the risks of vibration,” explains Jonathan McGargle, Business Development Manager at 3M Abrasive Systems. “But there is no reason why, with the right products, these regulations should lead to a drop in operator output or reduced abrasive performance.
